Practice Your Faith Privately!

Practice Your Faith Privately!

Recently a woman told me that I should only practice my religious beliefs in the private.  She said, “Not everyone believes in god, Mark, and yet are Americans, too. Practice your religion freely in your home and place of worship and respect the beliefs of others by keeping it out of politics and affairs of the state.”

I don’t really know what that means as a Christian. Did Jesus say to “follow him” but only in private?  Did Jesus not say to be a light to the world?  Did he mean to do that only where people won’t notice?  Jesus said to be the salt to the world.  Did he say only in private of our home?

I’m confused as to what that means to be a Christian, but only in private.

I understand that some Christians have abused and misused the Bible for their own gain, and manipulation.  I don’t like that.  No one should like that.

But what if we lived out the principals that Jesus taught - to Love others and Love God?  Would we be worse off?

How can we shape a government without influence of God?  Oh, maybe we are talking about being led by atheists?  Well isn’t that a belief?  Why do they get their way and to push an anti-God stance.
